Buzzards Bay Musicfest Twelfth Anniversary
During the initial eleven years of our festival, we presented almost 100 different works in a variety of styles and ensembles ranging from duos to full orchestra repertoire. This year we continue our policy of not repeating any selection from previous seasons while adding several major works for a slighty enlarged orchestra. Again enlisting our soloists from our resident artists, we are delighted to have our excellent keyboard artist David Allen Nehr (who joined us last year), James Thatcher (our principal horn) and our resident "Dynamic Duo" (Janna Lower and Marc Tanner) who have appeared as soloists on several occaissions in the past.
Following the successful response to last years Brahms Sereade NO.2, we are presenting his other sereade for orchestra. New to our list of composers is Gabriel Faure, whose Paellas and Melisande Suite adds French intensity and color to this years mostly Germanic fare (Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart and Strauss!)
