Second Violin

Originally from Venezuela, violinist Abril Nuñez began playing at age seven and developed a deep passion for orchestral and chamber music. She participated in several seminars held by the Latin American Academy for String Quartets, led by the Latin American Quartet, as well as in a program organized by the New England Conservatory and FESNOJIV, where she received masterclasses from the Borromeo String Quartet. Her musical foundation was shaped within El Sistema, and she later earned a position with the Orquesta Municipal de Caracas. With this orchestra, she took part in an extensive international tour with performances in Japan, France, Italy, Singapore, and Denmark, among others. In the U.S., she has participated in festivals such as the San Diego International Youth Orchestra Festival and Ohio Light Opera. Abril studied with Edgar Aponte in Venezuela and completed her Master’s in Violin Performance at Duquesne University, studying primarily with Charles Stegeman, as well as Rachel Stegeman. She has performed with the Wheeling Symphony, Canton Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre Orchestra, and Pittsburgh Opera.
