Augusta Schubert

Second Violin

Augusta Schubert, violinist, is a second year New World Symphony fellow from Waco, Texas. She was a Presidential Scholarship recipient at the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings, where she received a Bachelor of Music degree in 2022. She also holds a Master of Music degree from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University under Cho-Liang Lin. During her time in school, she was granted the opportunity to perform with some of the most renowned musicians in the world, including Lawrence Dutton of the Grammy-award winning Emerson String Quartet, Annie Fullard of the Cavani String Quartet, Amy Schwartz Moretti of the Ehnes String Quartet, David Kim, concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and Robert McDuffie, concert violinist.

Some of her favorite performances include a tour with Chuck Leavell of the Rolling Stones and the Allman Brothers band, Mike Mills of REM, and Robert McDuffie in 2019. Recently, Augusta performed Beethoven’s Quartet Op. 59, No. 3 in Rome and Florence, Italy with Lawrence Dutton of the Emerson Quartet and John Adams’ “Shaker Loops” with Stefan Jackiw. She has also performed twice on Kansas Public Radio with different quartets. Last summer, at the Aspen Music Festival, Augusta played Reena Esmail’s “Saans” and Viet Cuong’s “Wax and Wire” on a faculty chamber music recital.

Augusta is also well versed as an orchestral musician and has served as both concertmaster and principal second violin of the New World Symphony, the Shepherd Symphony and Chamber Orchestras at Rice University, the McDuffie Center Chamber Orchestra as well as the Sewanee Symphony at the Sewanee Summer Music Festival.

Professionally, Augusta has performed extensively with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Houston Symphony, and the Houston Grand Opera.
